The Workstation allows you to view the contents of DICOM file headers. There are a couple of ways to do this.

If you know the location of a DICOM file on the file system, then:

1.Go to the My Computer tab.
2.Right-click on the file(s) of interest and select DICOM Dump/Editor. You can Ctrl-Click to select multiple (individual) files/folders, or Shift-Click to select a range.

Alternatively, if you're currently viewing a study and you want to view the header of a particular image, then:

1.Select the image of interest.
2.Select Tools > Utilities > DICOM Dump/Editor. A new window will appear showing the contents of the header of the selected image.

Batch Editing Headers

This is a premium feature and may not be available in all installations.

The DICOM Editor provides a simple interface for performing batch modifications to DICOM files.

Attribute values for standard DICOM tags in individual files can be edited by clicking in the table's Value column.
Additional attributes may be inserted using the Create New Tag tool.
Existing attributes may be removed by selecting the appropriate rows and using the Delete Tag tool.
Attribute values may be cloned to all other files currently loaded in the DICOM Editor using the Replicate tool. (Note: You need to have selected multiple files when you launched the DICOM Editor for this to work.)
Quickly anonymize typical attributes using the Anonymize tool.
Remember to save your modifications after you're done using either the Save or Save As tools. (Note: If the files being viewed are in the local store, you must choose to save to another location. You can import them into the local store afterwards if so desired.)

Important Note: Modifying DICOM headers can cause irreparable loss of patient data and/or cause patient misdiagnosis. Be very careful when using this tool to edit DICOM files from patient imaging studies, and always keep backups.
