Workstation will generate alerts to inform you of things that are happening, or to notify you of errors or other problems that need attention.

An alert appears in the bottom right corner of the main window and does not interfere with your ability to continue to use Workstation.

The alert has 4 main components:

1.	An icon, indicating the severity of the alert.

2.	A text message that describes what the alert is about.

3.	A contextual link that will normally take you to a relevant area of the application; in the case of an error, it will usually take you directly to a place where you can deal with the problem.

4.	A link to open the Alert shelf. You can always open the alert shelf via View > Alerts on the main menu.

Alerts have 3 different severities, and the behaviour is slightly different for each.

	Info: the alert is simply informational. The alert window will fade away unless you hover the mouse over it.
	Warning: something that may need your attention has occurred. The alert window will not close until you dismiss it or click on one of the links. If you choose simply to close the alert window, you are indicating that there is no problem, or that you have already dealt with it.
	Error: something that needs your attention has occurred. The alert window will not close until you dismiss it or click on one of the links. If you choose simply to close the alert window, you are indicating that you have already dealt with the problem.

Only the most recent error/warning alert is shown. When multiple errors or warnings have occurred, the alert window will indicate this in the text of the link in the bottom right corner.

In this situation, you should click on the link in the bottom right corner to open the Alert shelf, which will allow you to see all of the alerts in order to deal with them. If you choose to simply close the alert window, you will not be notified again of any error/warning alerts that have already occurred. Remember that you can always open the Alert shelf from the main menu, via View > Alerts.

Important Notes

•	Be careful if you choose to simply dismiss warning or error alerts, as it is easy to forget to deal with the problem. Instead, click the contextual link and deal with the problem at the time the alert appears.

It is important to note that only the most recent warning or error alert is shown. In this case, the link in the bottom right corner will indicate if there are any more (new) warning or error alerts. In this situation, you should click on the link to open the Alert shelf, which will allow you to see all of the alerts in order to deal with them. You can always open the Alert shelf from the main menu, via View > Alerts.
