Items identified post-release
11035 | Invalid DICOM file generated for odd-length PDF attachments | When users
create PDF attachments using the ClearCanvas Workstation (all Editions), the
dicom file generated may not be DICOM compliant. In some cases, the length
for one of the tags in the file is odd though the DICOM standard requires all
values to be even in length and padded with an extra zero-byte or space if
necessary. As a result, users may not be able to retrieve or open studies
with non-compliant attachments on DICOM devices manufactured by other
vendors. A workaround for viewing these files would be to open the attachment using ClearCanvas software. If necessary, the file can be resaved from the PDF viewer as a PDF to the filesystem and distributed from there. A new version will be released to address this problem. |
Workstation |
Known incompatibilities
792 | Images don't display on grayscale monitors | The application does not support dynamic/static grayscale palettes on older Dome/Planar monitors/video cards. Images may appear blank or there may be rendering artifacts. Thoroughly evaluate image quality with your display configuration to ensure that it is supported before deploying for clinical use. Otherwise, newer display device(s) may be required. | Workstation |
2920 | Some controls appear black on some, usually older, Dome monitors | The application does not support all Dome monitors, particularly older models. Thoroughly evaluate image quality with your display configuration to ensure that it is supported before deploying for clinical use. Otherwise, newer display device(s) may be required. | Workstation |
Configuration warnings
8121 | Exception generated on running workstation from network | The workstation should be installed only on the local machine. | Workstation |
8250 | Unsynchronized time between IS and WS may crash the workstation | When the ImageServer and and Workstation times are not sychronized, certificate security verification may fail, causing the workstation to crash. | Workstation & ImageServer |
8449 | DICOM related settings are not migrated on upgrade | Some settings are not being migrated as of yet on upgrade. These settings include those in the sections ClearCanvas.Dicom.Network.NetworkSettings, ClearCanvas.Dicom.ServiceModel.Streaming.StreamingSettings, and ClearCanvas.Dicom.DicomSettings. | Workstation |
7173 | Configure settings does not list local settings in Enterprise Mode | For the Team Edition of the Workstation, settings that are stored in the Local configuration file are not displayed in the Configure Settings component. With the Clinical Edition, these settings are displayed. The settings must be manually edited from the application configuration file found in the installation directory. | Workstation |
Known defects | |||
6696 | DICOM Editor save button appears to not save modified values | As described in the User Guide, upon editing a value using the DICOM Editor, click away from the edited tag before saving. | Workstation |
8033 | Edits made in DICOM Editor are not seen in viewer if study was previously viewed in Study Filters | Due to a caching issue, changes made in the DICOM Editor may not be visible until the user restarts the Workstation. | Workstation |
5750 | MPR fails to render 8 bit volumes | No workaround, but such data sets are very rare. | Workstation |
7862 | Does not render overlays from compressed images if overlay is embedded in pixel data | Images like this are not DICOM compliant. Configure the modality to use the overlay repeating groups instead of embedding overlays in pixel data. | Workstation |
9252 | Workstation does not properly support pixel padding value | No workaround. Images with pixel padding values may not display as the manufacturer of the modality intended. | Workstation |
4881 | Workstation considers a pixel to be in an ROI if the top-left corner is contained in the region. | Pixels are only considered to be in a region of interest if the top left corner is included in the region drawn - i.e. pixels on the top and left edge of the region may be unexpectedly excluded and pixels on the bottom and right edges may be unexpectedly included. If precision down to the pixel is required for mean, standard deviation and/or SUV, draw the ROI to include or exclude the top left corner of the desired pixels. The probe tool can be used to determine where the top-left corner of a pixel is. | Workstation |
6785 | Opening study after display configuration change shows black workspace | If this problem occurs after changing monitor configuration, restart the application. | Workstation |
8133 | Reference lines are not captured in clipboard images | No workaround. | Workstation |
8394 | Key Image display sets with multiple study references always show a placeholder image for images from the "other" study | When you capture key images from more than one study in a
session, all captured key images are added to a new KO series in all of the
affected studies. It is arguable whether or not this is the correct way to do
it, but the reason for doing it was to alert the user that key images were
created in the same session for multiple studies regardless of which study
was (later) opened. However, when you open one or all of the affected studies (even via multi-selection), only key images from the study to which the key image display set belongs are shown; others are placeholder images. |
Workstation |
7818 | System.OutOfMemoryException thrown when workstation attempts to send really large images | Usually very large uncompressed multi-frames on the order of
hundreds of megabytes. Possible
solutions: - Close all unnecessary applications. - Consider configuring the modality to produce single frame, or smaller multi-frame images. - Configure the modality to create compressed multi-frames; the problem will not occur. - Consider switching to 64 bit workstations. - Consider using a USB flash drive to move the files manually. |
Workstation |
8266 | Large multi-frame images cannot be written to media | Usually
very large multi-frames on the order of hundreds of megabytes. Possible solutions: - Close all unnecessary applications. - Consider configuring the modality to produce single frame, or smaller multi-frame images. - Consider switching to 64 bit workstations. - Consider using a USB flash drive to move the files manually. - NOTE: configuring the modality to create compressed multi-frames will not fix this problem. |
Workstation |
9250 | Ejecting media while importing from it causes a fatal error | If the Workstation is importing off media in the optical drive and it is ejected while the import is still in progress, the shredhost service can encounter a fatal error, leading to other operational failures such as not being able to retrieve or send. For instructions on how to restart, see the Workstation User's Guide under Image Viewer > Administration > Starting the service. | Workstation |
3914 | Deleting log file while application is running causes strange behaviour | Only workaround is to stop the Workstation Shred Host Service, close the Workstation application, delete the log, then restart the service. | Workstation |
8226 | Media writer provides no progress during "Creating disc image" stage, which can take a very long time | This stage may take a long time, depending on the size of the images being written. Wait. | Workstation |
8819 | Viewer will not print/export Fusion images | There is an issue with exporting and printing Fusion images -
these operations may or may not complete successfully. To workaround, toggle the colour bar overlay off before attempting to print or export. Alternatively, consider taking a screen capture. |
Workstation |
8363 | DICOM overlay visible state is not applied when a new display set is applied to a image box | When toggling "Show/Hide Overlay", all the overlays of the visible imagebox are toggled. But if a new displayset is dropped into an imagebox, the DICOM overlay will always become visible. | Workstation |
9449 | The Easy Image Selection tool (Easel) can push the last study out of view when there are many related studies. | In Easel, if there are many related studies, it is possible that hovering over certain studies will "push" the last study out of view. When examining a list of studies in Easel, the user should use the scrollbar as a cue to whether there are more studies in the list. | Workstation |
9852 | Searching for accented characters requires an exact match | For example searching for "López" will not find "Lopez" and vice versa. This is not technically a defect, but the likelihood of inconsistent data is high and it makes searching more difficult. The workaround is to use the ? wildcard when searching for these potentially different characters. | Workstation |
